It's once again a looong time since I last posted something. It took a bit to get used to my new life, the new room and the new city outside my door. Everything is so HUGE that sometimes I feel out of scale! but so far I really enjoyed being here, going to crafty markets, discovering the city, and meeting new and old friends.
Berlin is really exciting, and I've been so in love with it since so long that it almost doesn't feel realy to finally BE here.
My space is very limited at the moment compared to Rotterdam, where I had a crafty room ...but I'm trying to make the most out of it! And I took once again my crochet and knitting needles out and started creating... I enjoy so much the colors and the calm of working with crochet and yarn... and now a few pics from the very last creations..and me :)
dear Peeps, I've been once again neglecting this little space lately...therefore I decided that this blog needs to tell a bit more about me. I don't want to keep updating it just to let people know about my last crafty market or the jewelry I made.
it needs to say more about ME and my life.
so, here you are... I am moving to Berlin in 4 days. this is extremely scary and exciting at the same time. Berlin is possibly the city I love most in the world and knowing that it will become MY city makes me so scared and excited I cannot even tell. I've been thinking about this for ages, and finally decided a few months ago that it was time to make a move. I've been extremely unhappy workwise this year. It's been difficult to survive the crisis in the Netherlands working in the artfield and I've been accepting all kinds of jobs just to make a living. It was time to decide for myself and my own happiness, finally. so I thought it could be Berlin. my brother lives there, some good friends of mine live there and the artscene is pretty exciting. I don't see any reason not to try. So, I'll be moving to my lovely new room monday next week. then it will be time to keep studying german, looking for opportunities and start a whole new life! I can't wait. I also decided to start a new brand that would reflect my style a bit more. so stay tuned...because rock granny is coming!!
I will post pics from my new life (and new creations) soon.
my brother gave me a ukulele for my birthday and I'm in love with it. it's such a nice little instrument! and it's so much fun to look up your favourite songs and play ukulele versions of them...hihihi ^__^
I am soon moving and trying to use some materials...and I'm so in love with colored glitters that I cannot stop making rainbow broches!!! here they are together with a new few creations. I'm having fun like a child in a candyshop :)
yes! on saturday I'll be sitting at my favourite market ever... Bazar Bizar... this year it's the 5th edition, and the 4th one where I participate... I love it so much...the people, the shows, the music, the other designers.... and this year I have no stand, but some experimental "candy seller" display... I hope it works! hope to see you there :)
So, my project for this summer will be to run my own shop. I always wanted to try something like this, as craft and handmade are my second biggest passion after art... But I never had a chance. Temporary stores are perfect in this sense because they allow you to try the experience withouth the big deal of investing lots of money or a "real" shop.
So at the moment I am busy selecting the last designer, deciding prices together, setting up an email and a blog...
I decided to call it Oplà because it's italian but it can be easily pronounced by foreigners as well. Oplà reminds me of childhood and playfulness. it's going to be a nice adventure. can't wait!
my energies and inspiration have been a bit discontinous in the last few months, and the blog of course reflects this pretty well. but spring is coming and I just want to star playing again with materials, colors and glitter!
and... I have good news! I good the Roodkapje minishop for summer and I'll be selling lovely italian handmade from a bunch of talented crafty people, illustrator and designers! Can't wait to start working on it!
stay tuned for more news... :)
